As a lifelong resident of the San Joaquin Valley, I strive to share the area’s richness with people of all ages. From a young age, I was involved in music, theater and the visual arts. My mother and grandmother were visual artists. I’ve been painting and showing work in the Modesto region for over 20 years.
After a 25-year career as a graphic designer and business owner, I decided to switch gears and start a teaching career. After 5 years in public schools, I started teaching art to elementary students through Central California Art Association’s CLASS teaching artist program. I have also provided art classes for home-schooled and private students. I’ve written and illustrated 2 picture books, “Over in Valley” (2010) and “Patient for Pumpkins” (2014). Both books honor our local perspectives. I also created a coloring book, “Nature Beauty” in 2015.
I’m deeply concerned for the future of our planet. The value of water, energy, and universal kindness are areas that I like to address with paintings of our landscapes, daily life and people in the Central Valley.
