Animal Portraits in Pastel with Christine Obers

Saturday and Sunday, September 21-22, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

In this two-day workshop, participants 16 and up will learn techniques for accurately representing the subject of their choosing. The medium will be soft pastels in stick form and pencils. Christine will show you how to work with values and create a strong composition.  Subjects can be a favorite dog, cat, horse or hamster or…even wild birds and animals. $170 registration, materials provided.

Christine Obers is an internationally recognized pastel artist, known for her animal portraits.

Basic Gourd Art Workshop

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 12-13, 10 am -3pm

Instructor, Bernadette Burns, will have students sketch a design on a gourd surface, then using a combination of wood-burning, dyes and metallic highlighting pigment, they will bring their design to life on an intact gourd. An option to make a bird house will be available. $150 registration fee. Additional materials fee of $35 is paid directly to instructor. All supplies, including the gourd, are furnished. Classes will run on Saturday the 12th 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Sunday will be 10:00 am until 3:00 pm or until we finish which may be earlier. We will break for 1/2 hr for lunch each day.

Figure Drawing Drop-In Each Wednesday, 7 – 9 p.m.

Join us for informal, non-instructional life drawing sessions with a nude model. This is a weekly drop-in group, $10 per night. Bring your own supplies and easel (tables are available). No registration necessary, over 18 only.
