Central California Art Association & Mistlin Gallery’s Art Scholar Program has been going for nearly 30 years. These classes are offered to junior high and high school students who will benefit as part of the community outreach programs at CCAA. This program is funded through grants, donations and individual contributions. This year, the classes will be lead by our team of CCAA teaching artists, Susan Rossmann, Jamie Hedstrom and Rosemarie Sturgill.
Applications for 20-21 school year will be opening in the fall.
Teachers, counselors, and referring agencies:
Please recommend students who are “at risk” and in danger of falling between the cracks, economically disadvantaged or in need of direction to help them make a difference in their lives. The students that you recommend are expected to make a commitment to attend all sessions and to participate fully in the program. We ask that you discuss with prospective applicants the level of commitment required in this program. Because of limited space we want to ensure that all those accepted will take full advantage of the opportunity. In addition to participating in all 11 sessions, students will be expected to present and prepare an exhibition of their work, which will be accompanied by a formal reception. Students will be supplied with materials for the 11 week coursework. In addition, fully participating students will be given a parting gift of materials for continuing with their art practice on their own.
“Prolong Expression,” is a video in which students speak about their experiences in the Art Scholar Program, produced by film maker, John Fandl and team from the Building Imagination Center: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvSJqYFyq7Q
